Nigel Fung is a student who has already attended the Math Monkey Lesson for a long time. He always shows his confident on solving Mathematics problems. He always tries to use different methods to solve one question. He can pay attention in class and help teachers to teach other classmates as a little teacher.

After taking the Math Monkey Lesson, he found that Mathematics is not difficult to do. Besides, he can use different methods to solve and check Mathematics questions.  We are happy to announce that Nigel has been selected as the Star of the March in Math Monkey!

速算的十六法則

吠陀數學，源於古印度，近年被引進香港。吠陀數學主要以十六個法則，去解決數學問題。究竟是哪十六個法則，而這些法則又如何有效地讓小孩子學習數學。

Audrey Chan, 4 years old girl joined Math Monkey, Ho Man Tin Centre 6 months ago.

We appreciate for her effort to build strong foundation of 1-30.  Audrey can give us confident answer for sequencing and relation between numbers.

Audrey’s hand-eye co-ordination and logical thinking had significant improvement while participating in the game session, and picking up the correct number from the number table. Game part in Math Monkey always motivates Audrey to keep on increasing her concentration time-span and doing her work continuously.

Audrey’ improved attitude towards finishing work quickly makes her star of this month.

如果覺得傳統數學課程較為沉悶，有否想過讓孩子透過一種新穎方法，活澄地學習數學？我們在訪問MATH MONKEY的過程中，尋找到一個源於古印度的吠陀數學PLAYGROUP！

爸媽們特別感興趣的，就是小朋友學習這種古印度數學技巧，對日常生活是否有幫助。其實運用PLAYGROUP的教學模式，最能讓孩子感受到學習數學是一件樂事，并結合玩具、集體游戲、速度競賽等元素。讓他們消除對數學的恐懼而樂在其中，帶連校內的數學成績也因而提升。

數猴皇電子通訊—如何在長假後收拾學習心情

不少家長都會為子女在放完長假後，怎樣適應學校生活而煩惱，小朋友一方面在長假內鬆懈學習，另在起居作息方面亦會有所變改。今年的情況更加明顯，因為緊接聖誕假期，感覺上好像上了十天八天的課，轉眼又放農曆新年假。現在理應一切回復正常，然而，若你的小寶貝仍未能好好收拾心情，不妨看看以下的建議。

以身作則

相信各位「直升機家長」或「虎媽虎爸」已經採用千百種提升子女學習力能的秘技，在此毋用重複。我只想指出，有部份家長律己以寛，未能以身作則。就以收看電視為例，有些家長電視癮甚大，會將小朋友留在書房做功課溫書，自己則安坐廳中追看電視劇。事實上，如果父母可以犧牲少少看電視時間，與子女站在同一陣線，讓他們明白你的關心，及營造寧靜環境的苦心，子女定會更加專心學習。事前大家可約法三章，在做完家課溫習之後，才一同觀賞子女合適的電視節目，也是增加親子感情的良方。況且以現時的科技，追看電視的方法多的是，例如上網收看、在智能手機以應用程式收看，或將之錄影－不少型號的高清解碼器也有錄影功能，待日後慢慢欣賞，實在無須急於一時。

食得聰明

此外，家長也可從飲食方面入手。外國有研究指出，吃零食會影響小朋友的專注度。新年期間，糖果朱古力總是吃個不停，除了可以致肥之外，也可能影響子女的情緒及專注力。食物中的添加劑，包括人造色素、香料、防腐劑，以至糖分，有妨礙小朋友腦部運作的潛在風險。以人造食用色素為例，部份原料來自石油產品，由於成本便宜，在食品生產上被廣泛應用。有研究甚至認為，包括食用色素等化合物與兒童過度活躍有關。故此，實在不宜讓子女吸收過多這些化合物。所以假後，小孩子最好多吃青菜、水果，這些食物富含維他命、礦物質等天然營養，有助穩定大腦化學物質的代謝。而且，放假期間進餐也要定時定量，保持身心健康。最後，不妨用含有大量Omega 3的橄欖油煮食，它對兒童腦部發展很有幫助。

Math Monkey Education Centers Open Day at Feb 26!

As a parent, do you know your child’s lesson activities before helping to enroll an enrichment program?  What is the teaching method in this enrichment center?  What are the teaching tools and game tools in this enrichment center?  You may get the above-mentioned answers by the receptionist of the enrichment center.  However, visiting the enrichment center by you is the most effective way to find the real answers.  Math Monkey Education Center is now inviting you and your kids to come to any of our center to see what we are and how we teach.  Finally, let your kids to tell you how they love in here after joining our trial lesson at the same day.

All Math Monkey Education Centers in Hong Kong will have an Open Day on Feb 26, 2012.  All coming kids will have a FREE trial lesson at the same time.  They will learn one Vedic Math technique and apply this technique in our game section.  Parents are welcome to sit in the classroom and look at how they enjoy to do math while playing.  Not only this, parents are welcome to join our discussion on “how to enhance a child’s interest to learn math” and all coming kids will have a gift to take home.
